Projects - Recent Clients - Common Questions

Projects

Our projects are quite varied and encompass all aspects of the tourism industry. Involving the full spectrum of our associates skills.

Recently we have worked along side MPA to develop a help manual, specifically designed for the farming industry to give them the opportunity to revue their ability to diversify into tourism ( Client South West Tourist Board).

In association with Chris Burnet Associates we undertook a study to determine the feasibility of obtaining Heritage Lottery Funding for a restoration management plan for Astley Park in Chorley.

During the study it was necessary to   consider not just the park but the Grade 1 listed Hall and the surrounding outbuildings.  The coach house and walled garden area in particular to provide exciting opportunities for the park’s future.

The preliminary report was then developed to include an outline business plan which was submitted and accepted.

Our technology team have recently developed an interactive web site to promote the Grand Tour around the UK  to both the US audience and domestic market, along with numerous other individually developed internet solutions for small businesses.

Philip and Judith completed a full design brief for a new contempory restaurant, a refurbishment programme for a 4 star country house hotel and the design for an executive flat within an old mill complex.

They are now involved with an extension to the contempory restaurant and a complete design brief for a large barn self catering complex in the south of France.

Review of a food and beverage operation within a multi million pound leisure complex at a caravan park. Once we had established the customer profile, a new concept was designed that could be operated within the existing constraints relating to staffing and equipment. This ultimately enabled the operation to meet both the customer satisfaction levels and the profit margins.

In conjunction with Armstrong Watson Consulting and The Cumbria Farm Tourism Initiative, we initially assisted in providing advise to individual farm business who wished to diversify into tourism. This involved reviewing each individual business to determine the opportunities that would be most likely to succeed within that location.

As a natural progression to this work, we then produced various training packages that specifically targeted the needs of the farmers in terms of providing support for their new tourism business.

These courses covered such subjects as:

Making the most of your business (an all round course that covered Controls – Marketing – Customer CareSales & Marketing
Brochure production
An understanding of the Internet and how it can benefit a small business
Easy but effective cooking for profit
How to make more money from existing customers
Developing a camping barn / bunkhouse barn - the pit falls associated with such schemes

Produce a marketing action plan for a 4* country house hotel and golf course in the North East in a manner that enabled the management to monitor the success of each individual project.

Review the plans of a new hotel and conference centre with regard to the operational limitations caused by building constraints. Through slight amendments to the original plans, we were able to overcome specific shortcomings that could have jeopardise the project.

Conduct a financial review of an unprofitable operation within the North West to ascertain the best course of action to limit losses. The food and beverage operation was given a complete overhaul and new control systems were implemented, therefore transforming the business into a profitable situation within three months.

The preparation of a sales and marketing action plan for a 18 bedroom hotel with specific aims of increasing the room and conference profitability.

A feasibility study on a 50 bedroom conference centre within an existing historical site.

Provide our services as expert witnesses at a Public Inquiry initiated by English Heritage. This entailed the review of similar castles with multi revenue streams within the UK to establish a precedence in favour of our clientsspecific scheme.

The diversity of projects testifies to the teams depth of knowledge within the industry, whether it be helping a business in trouble, performing a strategic marketing forecast for a visitor attraction, designing a contempory apartment within a new up and coming leisure area or producing detailed working manuals for departmental managers.

If we feel that a project is too large or needs special competencies, we are able to team up with other associate companies who we have strong connections.
